Siblings Ayesha and Izhar Qureshi have opened a homecare office at Maidstone Innovation Centre. It is taking client enquiries now and recruiting local carers.

A new homecare provider run by a brother and sister has opened an office at Maidstone Innovation Centre, and it is now taking enquiries from people and families across the borough who need support at home.

Right at Home Maidstone was founded by siblings Ayesha and Izhar Qureshi, who are both managing directors of the business. The Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor Brian Clark, came to the official opening, along with Councillor Stephen Thompson, the council’s Cabinet Member for Healthier Stronger Communities, local healthcare professionals, and people from Xcel Health, One Maidstone, BBN Networking and Impact Connect.

“It was a pleasure to officially open the new Right at Home Maidstone office,” the Mayor said. “Organisations such as this play an important role in supporting local residents, creating valuable employment opportunities, and contributing to the wellbeing of Maidstone and the wider community.”

Why they opened it

Ayesha Qureshi put the reason in terms of her own family. “We have opened Right at Home Maidstone to deliver care we would want for our own family and to support people to continue living independently in the homes and communities they love for longer,” she said at the launch. “We’re excited to create career opportunities for local people who share our values and want to make a positive difference within their community.”

Asked by Maidstone Live why they chose the town, she wrote: “Maidstone is a community we care deeply about.” She said the business grew out of earlier work with local families, businesses and community groups.

The office’s registered manager is Lesley Kerr, who, the company says, has more than 40 years’ experience across social care, voluntary organisations, and local and central government. She will lead the day-to-day care, which the company describes as support “tailored to their individual needs, routines and aspirations”.

How many jobs?

We asked how many carers the office expects to take on locally in its first year. Ayesha Qureshi would not put a number on it, and explained why in writing:

“While it’s too early to put an exact figure on recruitment, we are actively recruiting across Maidstone and the surrounding areas and expect to create new local employment opportunities as the business grows. Our focus is on finding the right people rather than reaching a specific number. We are looking for compassionate, values-driven team who genuinely want to make a difference in people’s lives. We are committed to investing in training, development and ongoing support so people can build rewarding long-term careers in care, not just find another job.”

She added: “As a family-run business, we know that every person we support is someone’s loved one, and we believe they deserve to be cared for with the same dignity, compassion and respect that we would want for our own family. That’s why recruiting the right people is so important to us.”

What the service covers

The office is a locally owned franchise of Right at Home UK, which has more than 80 offices across England, Scotland and Wales. The company says its visits are a minimum of one hour with regular carers, and that care can be short or long term, from an hourly daily visit up to 24-hour or live-in care, seven days a week.

The services it lists are companionship, personal care, live-in care, dementia care, transport, errands and meal preparation, household administration, light housekeeping, medication support, post-operative support, and holiday and respite cover.

Beyond the town itself, the Maidstone office says it covers Bearsted, Harrietsham, Hollingbourne, Sutton Valence, Coxheath, Langley, Aylesford, Boughton Monchelsea, Kings Hill, Grove Green and Downswood.

Right at Home UK says it is rated 9.8 out of 10 on the review site homecare.co.uk from more than 4,700 reviews, and that it is recognised as a 5-Star Employer by the employee engagement firm WorkBuzz.
